THE TRUE STORY OF A COURAGEOUS YOUNG WOMAN WHO WORKED WITH THE CHRISTIAN RESISTANCE IN HOLLAND DURING WWII

This is the true story of Diet Eman, a young Christian woman who joined the resistance movement in the Netherlands during WWII. Together with her fiancé and other Dutch men and women, "Group Hein" risked their lives to save the lives of Jews who were in danger of becoming victims of Hitlerâs "final solution."

Things We Couldn't Say is an endearing and moving love story that occurs in the midst of extreme danger and often unbearable circumstances and loss. Before the war ends, Eman, her fiance, and several in their group are arrested and sent to concentration campsâmany of them lose their own lives.

This story will help us remember a time in history that should not be src="http://www.lighthousetrails.com/boardingtrain.jpg" vspace="10" hspace="10" />forgotten and will inspire us to live more courageously and stand for what is right, doing so by the power and grace of God. Things We Couldn't Say is a beautiful illustration of II Corinthians 12:9, which states: "And he [the Lord] said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

What Others Are Saying About Things We Couldn't Say

In a recent order to Lighthouse Trails, you sent me the free book Things We Couldn't Say by Diet Eman. I can't tell you how moved I have been by that book. I've long been interested in books and writings and movies about the war but don't think I've ever been so deeply moved as with this very personal account of courage, faith and tragedy. Thank you so much for sending it. I will be passing it along to others to read also, so that many will come to know as I now do the details of what happened in the Dutch Resistance movement during that awful war. God bless you for your dedication to excellence and to the Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Sincerely, M. E. (Senior Citizen in California)

A powerful story about a wonderful person. The book is great and true. I had the chance to hear Diet speak last month and her story is as powerful now as it was when she lived through it. A true love story, a powerful testimony to the many that worked to help others in WW2. Charles (from Amazon.com)

Diet Eman was in the Dutch resistance when the Nazi's occupied the Netherlands. As a 19 year old, she 'smuggled' Jews to safe houses under the noses of the Nazis. Later, she moved them on trains to the countryside, even more risky. A very important aspect of WWII history, inspiring. James (from Amazon.com)

[A] wonderful reminder of God's presence in the midst of all my trials.  Deit's absolute certainty in God's Truth during all her adversity, and God's faithfulness recounted in her adversity was such a beautiful thing to read about This has to be the most encouraging, inspiring, wonderful book I have read in a long time.  Brad & Pam

Things We Couldn't Say - Wow!

I have read many books on the holocaust and this book is by far the best one I have read! It is very well written! Diet was brutally honest describing in detail all that she experienced. She was a good Christian that was not ashamed to reveal her faults and a lot of times her anger and hatred of the Nazis. Many times I have had to ask the Lord to forgive me for my hatred also of the Nazis. It's a hard thing to be angry and sin not! I have watched Diet Eman in two documentaries and what she said in the films was exactly what is written in the book.
The scriptures take on a whole different light when you experience what Diet had to endure. I had a hard time putting the book down! The writing is so good that you feel like you are experiencing what she experienced. It just grabs you!
No tears through most of the book and then came the liberation by the Allies. The tears came and didn't stop until the end!
When the church eventually is forced underground it would be wise to remember what the Dutch Resistance did to survive.
Most excellent book and highly recommended!

Excellent book

This is from the viewpoint of Christian...unlike all the other WWII books we have read. Very well written. We couldn't put it down and we learned a lot. Highly recommend this book.

Things We Couldn't Say

This book is one of my all-time favorites! Such an amazing and emotional story of Diet Eman, a young Dutch woman who risks her life in order to hide Jews during World War II. The accounts from her diary along with letters between her and her fiance, Hein, are both beautiful and heartbreaking. A truly wonderful book!

Things We Couldn't Say

This is an excellent account of the bravery of young Christians who did not stand by and do nothing during the horrors of the Holocaust; with some paying the ultimate price. I have read many books on this dark chapter in history and this is by far my favourite. I bought another copy for a friend who has a great interest in the Jews and the Holocaust and I am praying that she will be touched by the Lord when she reads it as so far she has not come to know our beloved Saviour. The other copy I bought will also go as a gift to a PhD student who is a Christian who is doing her doctorate on the Holocaust. Trusting it will be a real blessing to them as some of what she has to research is very dark. They arrived quickly and in excellent condition. Thankyou. Patricia Wales, UK
