He Cares, He Comforts: Finding Faith in Sickness and in Suffering

Corrie ten Boom devoted her entire life to serving the Lord. After World War II, during which she and her family had been imprisoned for helping to save the lives of persecuted Jews in Holland, Corrie traveled the world for over thirty years sharing the message of forgiveness and God’s love and salvation.

Through these travels, she made countless friends, many of whom were suffering with sickness or loss. She had such a longing to visit and comfort each of them, and thus, she wrote this book and two subsequent ones (He Sets the Captives Free and Don’t Wrestle, Just Nestle) as a way to “write them a letter”—an idea she believed had been given to her by the Lord.

In this first of three books, Corrie writes about twenty-three different people she met who were experiencing sickness, pain, and grief, and who found, in the midst of their suffering, peace and even joy when they made the decision to put their trust and faith in the Lord.
